Resilient Asset Mission Processing for Attritable Native Technologies (RAMPANT)

Capability Snapshot

RAMPANT maximizes mission priorities at the edge.

For mission-critical scenarios, where deployed assets (e.g., uncrewed vehicles) operate in constrained and contested environments, there is great potential for an adversary to deny, disrupt, or destroy U.S. capabilities.

RAMPANT (Resilient Asset Mission Processing for Attritable Native Technologies) is a policy-based orchestration tool tailored to manage containerized workloads across both traditional and constrained embedded devices.

This tool offers inherent operational resilience to dynamically manage containerized workflows across a fleet of deployed assets, ensuring mission critical processes remain available to warfighter as assets are degraded (i.e., lose communication) and/or are destroyed.

In highly constrained mission-critical environments, it is crucial for organizations to deploy and manage computing workloads effectively (e.g., image processing, signals exploitation, Command and Control (C2), system to system communication, etc.). These environments, such as at the tactical network edge and/or for Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, and Low-bandwidth (DDIL) networks, require prioritization of mission essential functions via the dynamic repurposing of networked assets (e.g., sensors, data transit, processing, etc.).

“Prioritized workload deployment management” refers to the strategies and mechanisms that determine which software applications, services, or data should be pushed to the edge first, how resources should be allocated under bandwidth or hardware constraints, and how updates or changes can be made securely in an environment with minimal or no external network access.

By emphasizing prioritized workload deployment management, RAMPANT ensures that:

  • Mission-critical services remain functional, even under network disruptions
  • System security measures are optimized during the mission
  • Limited resources are efficiently managed
