Quanterion Solutions Led “Wearable IoT for Healthcare and Defense” Workshop
Event Facilitated by ORION, an Internet of Things Ecosystem, and Partners
Quanterion Solutions partnered with local organizations to provide an Internet of Things (IoT) workshop, “Wearable IoT for Healthcare and Defense.” This hybrid workshop was facilitated through the Open-Architecture, Resilient IoT for Operational Networks (ORION), which is an IoT ecosystem and technology accelerator based in Rome, NY. Wearable IoT for Healthcare and Defense revolved around exploring current and future uses of wearable technology for medical and defense applications. Sessions included:
- Embedded Systems Fundamentals: The Heartbeat of Medical Wearables
- Modern Health & Performance Challenges: Bridging the Gap with Wearable Tech
- Keeping it Private: Medical Data Security at Rest & In-Transit
- Wearables for the Warfighter
- And other key topics related to wearable IoT technology
The workshop also included a panel discussion with experts from Rome Health, Syracuse University School of Information Studies, and others and was titled, “The Future – Innovations in Medical Wearable Tech.”
Cully Patch, Senior Program Manager of Cybersecurity and Intelligence at Quanterion Solutions, served as a workshop instructor, emcee, and panel moderator.
“One of the primary goals for this workshop focused on critical thinking for applying IoT innovations to defense and medical applications,” said Patch. “Solution developers must analyze the problem they are trying to solve, the information required, how that data is collected/analyzed, and many other considerations before they can securely, successfully, and efficiently implement IoT technology. We appreciate all the expert speakers who worked alongside our SMEs to provide practical information our audience can apply in the workforce.”
ORION is a collaborative initiative between the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate, Assured Information Security (AIS), Quanterion Solutions, the Griffiss Institute, and the New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC).
The event’s main instruction was planned, developed, and presented by Quanterion Solutions’ IoT subject matter experts. Experts from Rome Health, the Air Force Research Laboratory, Assured Information Security (AIS), and the Syracuse University School of Information Studies also participated as guest speakers.
Cully Patch, Senior Program Manager of Cybersecurity and Intelligence of Quanterion Solutions, participated as a workshop instructor, emcee, and panel moderator. Cully presented a session titled, “Embedded Systems Fundamentals: The Heartbeat of Medical Wearables.”
Alex MacDiarmid, Vice President of Quanterion Solutions, led the technical team in developing the workshop’s instruction and also presented a session titled, “Keeping it Private: Medical Data Security at Rest & In-Transit.”
Neil Fizpatrick, Senior Program Manager at Quanterion Solutions, instructed two sessions, “Modern Health & Performance Challenges: Bridging the Gap with Wearable Tech,” and “Wearables for the Warfighter.”
Wearable IoT for Healthcare and Defense was hosted at Innovare Advancement Center in Rome, NY, which also includes one of the ORION locations.
