Quanterion Solutions Announced

Utica, NY, January 29, 2000

Corporation President, Preston MacDiarmid, announced the formation of QUANTERION Solutions Incorporated, a business dedicated to quality QUANTitative services as critERION for critical decision making, particularly in reliability, maintainability and quality. The business brings together four principals with more than eighty-five collective years in engineering analyses oriented toward improved products and systems.

MacDiarmid, who left his Vice President position at IIT Research Institute, started the business with long time coworkers William Denson, David Mahar, and Seymour Morris. The four plan to apply their expertise to both the military and commercial sectors on a national level. Most recently, MacDiarmid and Denson were Director and Technical Director respectively of the Department of Defense Reliability Analysis Center in Rome. Both MacDiarmid and Morris are also past Air Force Research Laboratory managers. All four are well published in the engineering analysis field.

When asked about the types of engineering services the company will provide, Denson said "we help our customers understand how to improve their designs to prevent costly failures. Failures are costly because they result in dissatisfied customers, higher warranty costs and safety liability. Quality and reliability are also critical to the military because of their effect on operational readiness, as well as the ability to support fielded equipment and systems."

All four principals are native New Yorkers who were educated here and stayed, MacDiarmid has a BSME from SUNY at Buffalo, an MSME from Syracuse University, and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Denson, a BS in Physics from SUNY Buffalo and an MSEE from Syracuse University; Morris, a BSME from SUNY at Buffalo and a MS in Computer Science from SUNY Institute of Technology; and Mahar a BET and a BS in Computer Science from SUNY Institute of Technology. MacDiarmid resides in New Hartford; Denson in Rome and Morris and Mahar in Utica.
