As a rule, the bearingcapacity of piles and their physical load differ by a factor of 1.5-2; thisdemonstrates the need for a more careful approach in assigning the designbearing capacity of piles from results of static probing and testing. Indetermining the particular value of ultimate pile strength, the coefficient xican be increased up to 0.25-0.30 for sites with similar soil conditions. In eachspecific case, it is expedient to define its value more precisely from theresults of observations on building settlements.
