The double-brazed shear testprovides a meaningful engineering parameter for design purposes. The double-brazed shear test is sensitive to process variables in the brazing operation.Ceramic surface preparation is the most critical parameter to obtain a reliableceramic-metal joint. Use of a metal with a lower yield strength results inhigher shear strength. The results of the double-brazed shear tests demonstratethat all process variables should be clearly defined to optimize engineeringdesign of joints between ceramics and metals.
